The what, how and the where

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are obtained from plants through different methods, such as steaming or cold pressing. They are basically plant extracts! Their benefits have been known for nearly 6000 years and are meant to improve your health and/or mood.

It’s the aromatic compounds in these oils that gives them their characteristic fragrance, which you will later inhale and enjoy.

Now, how does it even work?

Amygdala. This is (for the most part) where the magic happens! The amygdala is the part of the brain that is responsible for your emotions. So when you inhale essential oils, it goes directly from the olfactory nerves in your nose to the brain. This provides you with immediate results.

Where does it come from?

These oils can be found in different parts of a plant, such as their leaves, flowers and their fruits. They are generally part of the plant’s immune system.
